IMPORTANT MESSAGE - 8th August 2021

The IWF and European Masters Committees are holding talks to issue a statement to cope with eventualities caused by the ongoing pandemic.
When this done it will be published on the European Masters website - www.europeanmasterswl.com and on the IWF Masters Competitions Page as well by email to all National Masters Chairs.
Both committees understand, and are concerned about the many problems facing Masters weightlifting and hope to provide answers as early as possible.
In addition we are working towards keeping Masters interested enough to maintain their standards in training and competing, if it is not possible for some athletes to travel and compete in a live event then every effort will be made to provide the alternative online virtual event.

When accessing this website to register your entry for an International Masters Championship please be aware that these championships are registered for Doping Control. Once you have registered you can be selected for testing at any time during the period of the championship. All testing is carried out at WADA approved laboratories.

Innovation Leader for Championships

Masters weightlifting has undergone huge changes since the first ever World Masters event just over 30 years ago. Championships are now run in a very professional way and it is now time to put paper entry forms into the past and replace it with technology. The 2016 World Masters Championship in Heinsheim, Germany, surprised everyone with a total entry that almost reached 1000 Masters. Dealing with this many entry forms is an unenviable task which will now be replaced by this innovative Registration System.

Clear direction and guidance for entries

Guidelines will follow which will hopefully enable you to complete your registration quickly and easily. Almost all the entry fields are mandatory and this includes the medical details also. There is a facility to bypass the medical details for those who have no medical history or seek privacy but you are asked to give consideration to this section because it is entirely for your benefit should you have a health problem whilst attending a championship.

Quality Service & Support

The new online registration system is aimed at giving a better service to those Masters who wish to compete. No more downloading, printing, and completing a paper form, and no more mailings and in particular mail that goes astray. All details will be erased from the website after the championship doping control results have all been processed. Medical details will only be used for statistical analysis.

"What do I need" and "How do I enter"...?

Simple. Follow the steps listed below.

  • START

    Ensure you have all required information to hand

    Most of the information you are asked for is straightforward, e.g., name, address, date of birth, body weight category, qualifying total (shown on this website) and almost all the data fields are mandatory. The reason for this is fairly obvious because it enables the system to produce an instantaneous Start List in any format required. Addresses are only used when it is necessary due to an “adverse analytical finding” resulting from a drug test. Medical details are necessary if a competitor has a medical history and takes ill during the competition in which case the best medical treatment can more easily be given.

  • STEP 1

    STEP 1 : Method of Registration

    Entries for each athlete can either be completed individually or by a National Masters Chairperson.

  • STEP 2

    STEP 2 : Method - Individual

    • If the method selected is for details to be completed individually each individual must have the permission of the National Federation or National Masters Chairperson, and will be issued with an Access Code to enable you to register. You must not reveal that Access Code to another person and you must only submit your entry once.

    • At any time during the period open for registration the National Chairperson can request a summary of all entries from the IWF Masters Secretariat.

    • At the close of registration the IWF Masters Secretariat will send a list of national entries and a Start List of all entries to each National Masters Chairperson.

    • If the National Masters Chairperson considers that an athlete from his or her nation should not have registered for an event a request can be made to the IWF Masters Secretariat to remove the registration details..
  • STEP 3

    STEP 3 : Method - By National Masters Chairperson

    • A National Masters Chairperson may consider to enter all individuals’ details to maintain control over entries or for other reasons. This is not a problem

    • If errors are made after an entry has been submitted it can only be corrected by contacting the IWF Masters Secretariat.

    • It is not necessary to complete all entries during one session of registration, it can be done in several sessions at any time before the closing date for entries.
  • STEP 4

    STEP 4 : Payment

    • payments must be made to your National Masters Chairperson who will then pay all the entry fees in total into the European Masters bank account

  • STEP 5

    STEP 5 : Following Entry

    • Do not contact the Masters Secretariat to check if your registration has been accepted, you will receive a confirmation email.

    • If you are worried you may have entered an incorrect detail please wait until the official Start List is produced (after the closing date for entries) and then contact your National Masters Chairperson requesting your change. This will be forwarded by him/her to the European Masters Secretariat.

    • All nations will receive an official championship Start List, please check that all entry details are correct.

    • A championship Competition Schedule will be produced soon after the production of the Start List.
  • FINISH

    FINISH - Additional information

    • Entries will be accepted at any time up until the closing date given by your National Masters Chairperson after which time it will not be possible to access this registration system.

    • Once you have registered you will not be able to re-enter the system to make a change to your details, this can only be done by the Masters Secretariat. Changes can be made after the closing date.
